the chill is here
we bustle from building
to building
wrapping jackets tightly
around our bodies
fabric’s weight is comfort
the occasional red leaf
city worker bobs with his truck
small white feather floats down
we are ready for indoors

Poem #270
heartsprained
push against a wall
momentary relief
too many thoughts
distraction not an option
everything explained
but still dull pain
punctuated by sharpness
Poem #269
the fog rolled over the pier
we couldn’t see the shore
so we walked back to land
to prove its existence
it is indeed real
but there is no more pier now
we abandoned it
Poem #268
accumulate information
over the course of years
learn the rules to follow
then find the exception
then find another
guess there are no rules
Poem #267
starburst glitter
purple and blue
a floating feeling
the best is here
awe and admiration
precipice of greatness
could fall
but don’t care
teeter over danger
sparkling somersault
stick the landing
legendary
Poem #266
daylong daydream
end it on the porch
with him in my arms
white paws and curiosity
perfectly content
Poem #265
numbers on the brain
spreadsheets for joy
the future is exciting
tingling on my mind
Poem #264
amble around the living room
listen to sad songs
talk about our lives
suck on lollipops
switch the music up
imagine our successes
dance like old men
make plans for fun
do our model walks
fall onto the couch
watch the reflections of us
feel like we’re the only ones
Poem #263
my little lovely
sitting atop his new throne
little paws hang over the edge
tail curls around him luxuriously
I admire your poise and dignity
Poem #262
shy and demure
bobcat moseys
through tall yellow grass
eyes are watchful
animal! animal!
subtle intensity
quick chase
bobcat eats
