six hour road trip
picks for best chip
quick thought quips
chicks with lip
fix our ship
clique, we zip

Poem #4
she beats a dead horse
until it’s a bloody mess
or its heart starts again.
she replays a moment
until the tape wears out
or it changes to her liking.
she colors in a drawing
until its unrecognizable
or it gets put on the fridge.
Poem #3
on the front of my neck
there are 3 large birthmarks
and 8 small ones
on the back of my neck
I have 1 that sticks out
on my back, there’s another
they’ve always been there
and I like them
my daddy called them beauty marks
for a long time, he hasn’t said that
he suggested I get one removed
both my parents have
they’ve removed marks and spots
the doctor numbs the area
and then slices them off
it leaves a scar if they take a lot
which they sometimes do
I’m not ready to do that
maybe I won’t need to

Poem #1
I’ve been trying to grow a tree
First, I planted seeds
None of them sprouted
Then I bought a sapling
It’s just a stick in the ground
A few weeks ago, I took cuttings
There was hope for a minute
But nothing has rooted
Maybe I shouldn’t try this anymore
