thump, thump, thump
a roofer straddled the ridge
he pulled another nail
from a compartment in his belt
he positioned it
and swung his hammer down
thump, thump, thump
his partner was in the house
talking to the beautiful homeowner
the roofer knew his partner
his partner liked pretty women
and hated heights
thump, thump, thump
he scrambled to his knees
pulled at the tether
it secured him to the roof
he went closer to the edge
“she changed her mind!”
thump, thump, thump
his partner yelled up to him
“what?” the roofer yelled back
but he had heard and he sighed
he untethered himself
and scooted to the ladder
thump
Poetry
I’m working on writing a thousand poems. I started in April 2015.
Poem #119
I’m alive, haha
I’m alive in the sky
so high, I survived
gonna dive, s’cool tonight
franchise, then surprise
over night, enterprise
we’re on a rise
and it’s about time
Poem #118
I’ll call you
from my window
lean on the sill
stare at the sky
hope to hear
something, anything
Poem #117
you will be impressed
by me, by us
just wait and see
the best, no less
Poem #116
tired delight
difficult inspiration
fun challenges
long days
short years
life
Poem #115
genuine shock lol
real conversations happen?!
it’s preposterous!
Poem #114
I don’t eat as much now
maybe it’s because I’m busy
maybe it’s because I’m lazy
maybe it’s because I’m happy
maybe it’s all three
Poem #113
a thin-legged spider traipsed across
her newly painted wall
seemingly unaware of the work
she asked him why he was there
on her newly painted wall
he said, “I still need to get home”
so she smashed him
and got paint on her hand
and ruined her newly painted wall
but on her own terms
Poem #112
vomit your guts
wallow in the stench
ropes pull you to the ground
as you attempt to clean
even water tastes bad
no appetite
so it gets worse
the worst day in a long time
Poem #111
bellow at the ground
ask it why it loves you so
gently float away
