Poem #7

I go 45 in a 45 zone.
I don’t take what other people own.
When I hear an unwelcome tone,
I leave well enough alone.

In pursuit of my very own ice cream cone,
I read a tome at home.
“Don’t postpone or bemoan.”
“Hone, get known, like a cyclone.”
Now I’ve flown and grown,
And shown I can do it on my own.

Poem #3

on the front of my neck
there are 3 large birthmarks
and 8 small ones
on the back of my neck
I have 1 that sticks out
on my back, there’s another
they’ve always been there
and I like them
my daddy called them beauty marks
for a long time, he hasn’t said that
he suggested I get one removed
both my parents have
they’ve removed marks and spots
the doctor numbs the area
and then slices them off
it leaves a scar if they take a lot
which they sometimes do
I’m not ready to do that
maybe I won’t need to

Poem #1

I’ve been trying to grow a tree
First, I planted seeds
None of them sprouted
Then I bought a sapling
It’s just a stick in the ground
A few weeks ago, I took cuttings
There was hope for a minute
But nothing has rooted
Maybe I shouldn’t try this anymore
