Poem #560
windowless room
storage
stay out of there
Poem #559
jump from stone to stone
never go home
Poem #558
my girl with the blue-green eyes
I love you
and your 2am “I love you” hugs
and holding hands in theaters
and laughing at your puns
and walking in Old Town while you squeak
and holding Fish while you get ready
I’m glad we’ve had a year
let’s have more
Poem #557
snail crawls up tire
car starts up
car moves
snail is crushed
Poem #556
Ms. Ann Marie Eager
wears a dress in the forest
leading her doe on animal trails
they come across a chest
Ms. Eager drags it back home
and carefully pries off the hinges
inside is treasure beyond imagination
Ms. Eager smiles at her doe
“You’re thinking what I’m thinking?”
and they bury it in the forest
she draws a map
scatters the pieces
and never looks for it again
Poem #555b
a faucet, completely open
it gushes
just on and wild
until it needs to be off
spraying the inside of the sink
the sound of the water is thunderous
rushing to the drain, disappearing like it appeared
Poem #555a
a cup, half full
slowly fills
drop by drop
until it’s at the rim
quivering to overflow
relief as tension breaks
water trickles over the side
Poem #554
2 cups of contentment
1 lb of tiredness
5 tablespoons of comfort
a dash of excitement
mix together
deposit in soul
let sit for ten minutes
fall straight asleep
Poem #553
cat stretches out
watches the electronic toy
spin the string
cat is fascinated
but half-heartedly bats
she’s still a cat after all
