Poem #493

on Europa:
take a high speed elevator
up to one of six viewing stations
gaze through thick clear plastic
up at the Jupiter gases
turn around and feel the chill
of the universe and faraway Sun

Poem #489

the perfect marriage

he proposed to me on our first date
it was magical
his deep brown eyes twinkled
and I was smitten
of course I said “yes”
we’d known each other for years
all my friends said it was odd
my parents were worried
but I loved it
we had our lives to fall in love together

so it must be odd to find out
that I’m now a rotting corpse
six feet under
no one knows where I’m buried
except for him
he was the perfect husband
until one day he snapped
I don’t blame him
I’m waiting here patiently for him
we have eternity to fall in love together

Poem #486

a window pushed open
occasional chill coming in
70% dark chocolate
melting slowly in my mouth
hot and lovely berry tea
in my grandma’s tea cup
navy blue words’ delight
fantasy in the pages
