12 crows perched
on a freeway light
day in and day out
watching the humans
in the shiny boxes
cawed their amusement
at the hurry over nothing
poetry
Poem #197
deliciously vicious
beta wolf shows his teeth
his insubordination is personal
unlike that of omega wolf
he pictures his triumph:
he tastes the flesh of alpha wolf
and saliva drops over his lip
he savors the elasticity of meat
and bits get stuck in his teeth.
beta wolf might not be the next alpha
but the takedown is his only wish
Poem #196
3 hens settle in for the night
clicking and clacking the day’s gossip
rooster cried all morning about chicks
horse tripped in the mountain’s ride
spider’s web was ruined after a day’s work
the hens clucked raucously, pitying the folly
but, they hadn’t done anything that day
Poem #195
embracing the weird
is an indulgence
I’ve allowed recently
I’m not sure if it’s good
Poem #194
careen to the left
tilt to the side
catapult forward
it’s dangerous
you die at the end
better scream now
Poem #193
lonely joy
at ease
want people
not entirely
but yes
need pressure
for safety
no explosion
it’s subtle
not literal
Poem #192
see the wild
in the city
mountains rise
between buildings
breathe that green air
in little bits
coyotes howl
down the street
wild is here
in city-style bites
Poem #191
“don’t look,” I say
“oh I see,” she says
Poem #190
hang upside down
let the blood rush
smile and laugh
Poem #189
not earth shattering
but certainly nice
my stomach jolts
my head almost floats
gotta put the feeling on ice
