Poem #70

lodged into a crevice
on an asteroid in the main belt
there is a perfectly sealed container
see-through on all six sides
sent to space in 2098 AD
it had created a buzz in the scientific community
a self-sustaining micro-world
a godly concoction of microbes
each chosen for its complementary processes
hundreds of years later
and many millions of microbe generations
it’s forgotten by humans
but evolving all the same
occupying the cold box
in a crack of an asteroid
in the outer reaches of the Milky Way
